Walmart Canada announced Thursday that it plans to open a new 140,000 square-foot storefront at Hamilton’s Lime Ridge Mall by early 2027.
The retail corporation says the new Supercentre is expected to open in the north end of the mall, where the Sears Canada retail store used to be before closing their doors in 2017.
They said in a statement on the official Walmart Canada website that the store will feature a full grocery department, an expanded home, electronics and apparel section, and a pharmacy.
The store will also facilitate online order pickup and delivery options for grocery and general merchandise.
Andy Taynor, the general manager of Lime Ridge Mall, says in a statement, “this addition reflects our commitment to providing our community with a diverse mix of retailers and an exceptional shopping experience.”
The construction is part of the corporation’s $6.5 billion investment in the country over the next five years, which was announced earlier in January.
They said that they will open five new Supercentres in Alberta and Ontario by 2027, which included the new opening in Mississauga earlier this summer, and at the Hopedale Mall in Oakville last month.
CHCH News has reached out to find out more details surrounding the construction of the store.
