10-year-old dies in multi-vehicle collision on Hamilton Mountain

A 10-year old child has died following a multi-vehicle collision on Trinity Church Road in Hamilton on Sunday at 9:32 p.m.
The child was among four occupants of a Honda Civic who are all in hospital with injuries.
Hamilton Police say the collision occurred when a GMC Sierra was travelling southbound on the road at a high rate of speed. The vehicle went to pass another pickup truck on the road and crossed the middle line.
The GMC then collided head on with the Honda Civic that was travelling northbound and carrying four passengers.
The Honda Civic was pushed backward into a Ford Explorer that was also travelling northbound, causing a secondary collision.
The Explorer was pushed into the west ditch, several meters from the scene.
The four people in the Civic sustained injuries of varying degrees. Another passenger is in hospital in a life threatening condition, according to police. The third passenger of the Civic is in critical condition and the fourth experienced minor injuries. The diseased child 10-year-old died in the hospital.
The three passengers of the GMC Sierra also sustained minor injuries.
Roads were closed for several hours while the Hamilton Police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the scene, they continue to investigate this accident.
