Heat wave warnings issued for Halton, Hamilton and Niagara regions

A heat wave across Southern and Central Ontario has prompted multiple cities to issue heat warnings, with temperatures expected to reach up to 36 C, and a humidex of up to 45 C.
Heat warnings have been issued for the Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and surrounding regions starting Sunday.
Weather alerts are released when forecasted temperatures are expected to exceed 31 C or higher for two consecutive days or more.
Environment Canada also forecasts that overnight lows will stay above 21 C, providing little relief from the heat.
The government agency says the extreme heat and humidity will continue until Tuesday night.
Many municipal recreational facilities are open to the public, so they can stay cool during the extreme heat, with each region listing cooling spaces to avoid the weather.

All regularly scheduled open swims will be free to the public during heat warnings.

During extended periods of extreme heat, residents should be wary of heat exhaustion and watch out for signs of heavy sweating, weakness, cold, pale or clammy skin, a weak pulse, fainting, and vomiting.
If experiencing symptoms, people are advised to seek help right away and call 911.
