A 29-year-old Welland man has died following an accident at the Welland County Speedway Saturday night.

Niagara police say they responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident at the speedway at approximately 11 p.m.

Investigators say they collision occurred during a flat track race and racer Tyler Seguin succumbed to his injuries.

Seguin was a Canadian National Champion and a part of the Welland County Speedway community since he began racing at four years old.

“He had that natural raw talent, where he loved being there, and to his core he loved motorcycles, and dirt bikes, and he loved racing.” said Seguin’s wife Jenna Price.

Price said her husband not only loved his sport but also deeply loved his community, and was loved in return.

“He was a friend, a brother, a son, a father, and he was exceptional in everything he did,” said Price. “There wasn’t anywhere he went, where he didn’t know somebody and that somebody didn’t just love him.”

“He was a special person,” said Seguin’s brother Brandon. “Just to be around him – the light he brought into the room was incredible – he was a hard person not to like.”

Seguin’s brother said that he had an unmatched passion for the sport, and that he loved and breathed racing.

“Tyler lived and breathed racing, it was in his blood – it’s all he wanted to do – it’s all we’ve done all our life,” said Brandon. “He’s an extraordinary person.”

Price said she’s thankful they had recently had family pictures taken, so their two-year-old son can remember his father.

“Reid will never know his dad,” said Price. “It’s not fair – he will never know his dad on the track, and he will never get to experience or grow up with Ty.”

Seguin’s passion for the sport not lives on in the countless social media videos showing him doing what he loved to do: ride his bike.

The Welland County Motorcycle Club shared their condolences for Seguin in a Facebook post.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Seguin’s wife Jenna Price, and their young son.

More than $38,000 has been raised as of Monday morning.
