Second razor blade found in Halloween candy

Niagara police say a second metal razor blade has been discovered hidden inside Halloween candy.

Police say the latest blade was found this morning, stuffed inside an Oh Henry bar. In this case, a child from Niagara Falls had been trick-or-treating in the north end of St. Catharines with friends.

The child was not hurt.

The latest incident comes less than 24 hours after police were called to a home in Thorold to investigate a report that a child bit into a metallic item resembling a razor while eating a Kit Kat bar.

Police say both items looked like a blade from a disposable shaving razor. The child wasn’t hurt in that case either.

Police are urging parents to check all Halloween candy.

Keep an eye out for any signs of tampering, including pinholes, tears or other damage on the packaging. Discard any loose candy or anything homemade, and make sure to check the expiry date.
