Hamilton man facing charges after standoff

A 21-year-old Hamilton man is facing weapons charges after shots were fired in an incident involving city police.

Police say they received a call Friday evening from a couple who said their son had broken into his father’s gun locker and took two rifles.

Officers allege they were confronted outside an east mountain home by a man who pointed a rifle at them and threatened to kill them.

Police say the man then walked a short distance before hiding behind a parked car and firing three shots from a .22 calibre rifle.

The bullets didn’t hit anyone or cause any property damage. Police say the man then obeyed their commands to surrender.

Brandon Comeau is charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm and threatening death. He has a bail hearing scheduled for today.
