Premier Kathleen Wynne was on hand this morning for a Toronto Pride ceremony at Queen’s Park.

The Pride flag was raised at the Ontario legislature was raised. As Toronto welcomes over 2 million visitors this week for World Pride, Wynne took time to reflect on tolerance and her recent election campaign.

“I said and I continue to say that I do not believe that the people of Ontario hold prejudice in their heart. I believe that they are an open and inclusive people and that is how they see themselves.”

“I believe that has been proven true a hundred fold this month. I was just elected as Ontario and Canada’s first lesbian premier and what is so remarkable is that not once, not once during the election campaign was that an issue.”

Wynne also praised Ontario for being the first province to allow same-sex marriage. World Pride Toronto wraps up on Sunday.
