In January we introduced you to “Esther the wonder pig”, she was about 400lbs then, but she keeps growing.
Now she needs a new home- something bigger than the current 1000 square foot bungalow she currently lives in.
“We live in town, just outside of Georgetown, a very nice town, but it’s not right to have Esther here,” says Steve Jenkins, Esther’s owner.
Especially when Esther, at roughly two years old, weighs in at over 500lbs, and that’s why couple Jenkins and his partner Derek Walter are raising money to pack up and move to wider pastures.
”The space and being outside she will love, because when she gets up in the morning until bedtime, she just wants to be outside,” says Jenkins.
And when Steve and Derek get their hands on the barn and 42 acres of land in Campbellville, it won’t be your run of the mill farm.
”The pigs will have blankets with bedding, and clean floor surfaces, we’re going to work to have them trained to use the washrooms outside. Everything that will level the playing field a little bit.”
The couple has the keys, they just need the down payment of $400,000. So far they’ve raised $145,000, and they’re confident they can make it happen.
