The death of a Canadian citizen in Lebanon marks the 8th confirmed victim with ties to the country since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war, according to Global Affairs Canada.
The federal department confirmed the death in an update Sunday evening, but have yet to provide any further details.
Violence has escalated along the Lebanon-Israel border between Hezbollah militants and Israeli forces since the ceasefire deal with Hamas collapsed on Friday.
As of Saturday, the state news agency in Lebanon had reported three deaths as a result of Israeli shelling.
Global Affairs says 130 Canadians left through the Rafah border crossing into Egypt after it reopened to foreign nationals over the weekend.
Seven Canadians and one individual with deep connections to Canada were killed in the initial attack by Hamas in Israel that left 1,200 people dead on Oct. 7.

Global Affairs has reported that one Canadian remains missing. That individual has not been identified at this time.
Israeli military officials said on Sunday that it was expanding its ground offensive across Gaza, along with an order for an increased number of areas in and around Kahn Younis, the second largest city in the region.
Heavy bombardments were reported both overnight and into Sunday in Khan Younis and Rafah, where Israel claims many Hamas leaders are hiding.
Israel has vowed that its ongoing efforts would be “no less strength” than its attacks in northern Gaza.
Much of the territory’s population of 2.3 million have fled to the south after Israeli forces ordered civilians to evacuate northern Gaza when the conflict first began.
