Stoney Creek hate crime exemplifies disturbing trends in racism

Confirmation today from Hamilton’s Mayor that police are treating a racist encounter in Stoney Creek on Friday as a hate crime.

Hamilton Police arrested the man in the truck and identified him as 47 year old Dale Robertson of Hamilton.

Robertson has been charged with dangerous driving, threatening death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

It was a disturbing interaction caught on camera. It happened in a Walmart parking lot in Stoney Creek. A white man hitting an Indian-Canadian woman with his truck telling the couple that he’s racist and adds that he would kill their children first.

Dr. Ameil Joseph a McMaster University assistant professor who studies trends in racism joined the Evening News to talk about this disturbing event.
