Video shows chaotic police chase of 4 men wanted for GTA robberies

First Published:

York Regional Police have released video showing a chaotic pursuit of four people – including a Stoney Creek man – wanted in connection with a series of armed robberies in the Greater Toronto Area.

Around 10 a.m. on Jan. 20, police responded to a currency exchange store in the area of Yonge St. and North Lake Rd. in Richmond Hill for a report of an attempted armed robbery.

Investigators say two male suspects with a firearm tried to enter the business as the victim was opening it. The victim fled the scene and the suspects left in a dark-coloured Mazda.

Air Support officers spotted the vehicle on Highway 407 and followed it as it travelled to the Durham region.

Police then witnessed four male suspects committing an armed robbery at a bank in the area of Victoria St. West and Gordon St. in Whitby. The suspects tried to flee the area before officers arrested them outside of the bank.

Investigators determined the vehicle’s licence plate was stolen.
