Ontario party leaders seek more support one week before election

First Published:

With one week to go until the provincial election, the party leaders are making their way across the province trying to drum up as much support as possible.

NDP Leader, Andrea Horwath started in Brampton today, stopped in Kitchener, and finished up in Fergus, promising to tackle hallway medicine.

“We can fund hospitals to the level they need to be funded, hire thousands 10,000 more PSW’s 30,000 more nurses to ensure people get the care they need,” Horwath said.

Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner started the morning off with a virtual media conference before stopping in Guelph. Schreiner also talked about the importance of improving healthcare in Ontario.

“Ontario Greens are fully committed to standing up for healthcare workers… repealing the wage restraining Bill 124 and improving working conditions for front line workers,” Schreiner said.

Liberal Leader Stephen Del Duca stayed in the Toronto area today but promised if elected he would address the cost of living in the province.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation endorsed 5 local NDP candidates today. President of OSSTF, Karen Littlewood said, “we’ve got over 60,000 members and 500 in each riding and we know that last time some ridings were won by less than 500 votes.”

The OSSTF has endorsed candidates from different parties across the province, but none of them have been conservatives.

Ford made a stop in Dundas this afternoon and cancelled a stop in Winona. Ford also attended a rally in Mount Hope at Hamilton International Airport.
