No injuries reported after U.S. consulate in Toronto shot at

Toronto police are investigating after shots were fired at the U.S. consulate in downtown Toronto early Monday morning.

Officers on guard at the consulate heard a firearm discharge in the area of University Avenue and Queen Street West around 4:45 a.m.

Police arrived at the scene and found façade damage and a single shell casing outside the government building.

No injuries were reported.

A white Honda Accord fled the area and a police pursuit was discontinued on the Don Valley Parkway near Don Mills Road amid safety concerns.

No suspect information has been released.

Southbound University Avenue remains closed while investigators examine the scene.

The shooting comes four months after another attack on the U.S. consulate.

Police allege the March 10 shooting was part of a gun-for-hire plot involving young people recruited to target the building.

Sheldon Tracy-Stewart, 18, and Zara Jabbi, 19, were charged in June on multiple counts related to the incident.
