Niagara police identify ATV driver killed in head-on crash with minivan

Niagara police say they have identified the ATV driver who was killed in a head-on collision with a minivan in West Lincoln last week.

Emergency crews were called to a serious crash involving a black CAN-AM side-by-side ATV and a black Honda Odyssey in the area of Caistorville Rd. near Concession 3 around 5:40 a.m. on March 29.

The male driver of the ATV was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three passengers in the minivan suffered minor to serious injuries while the fourth person was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Police were unable to identify the man who died in the crash and detectives made an appeal to the public for assistance.

On Tuesday, police said the victim was a 38-year-old man from Welland.

Investigators say his name is not being released at the request of the family.
