Three suspects charged in Niagara attempted bank robberies

Niagara police have charged three suspects in connection with attempted robberies that took place at banks located in Wainfleet and Pelham.

A lengthy investigation was conducted with assistance from the Toronto police, Peel police, York police and Halton police services.

As a result of the investigation, 18-year-old Jayon Burgher of Toronto has been charged with attempting to commit an indictable offence of robbery and disguise with intent.

Brandon Brown, 22, of Toronto has also been charged with attempting to commit an indictable offence of robbery.

On Monday, both men were arrested in Toronto and transported to Niagara to attend a bail hearing scheduled for Tuesday at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Detectives have linked these investigations with an attempted home invasion that took place on Jan. 29 in the City of Thorold. 

Additionally, detectives uncovered plans for a fourth robbery attempt that had not yet occurred.

A 17-year-old male has been identified as a link between these four incidents and has been charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

He is currently in custody elsewhere in Ontario for unrelated matters and will be brought to Niagara to answer to his charges on a future date.

On April 18, a 14-year-old male was identified and arrested.

The accused was held for a bail hearing on April 19 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse.
