Diabetes drug helps against prostate cancer
A new Canadian study shows a common diabetes drug may slow the growth of some prostate tumors.
The study included 22 men who were scheduled to have their prostate gland surgically removed after a cancer diagnosis.
Tumors grew more slowly in men who took the diabetes drug Metformin for more than a month before surgery.
The drug also appeared to reduce one of the main growth pathways of the tumor.
