HAPPENING NOW:

ADHD and long term drug use

A new study shows taking ADHD drugs long-term does not affect the developing brain.

Wake Forest University in North Carolina looked at 16 young primates that were the age equivalent of six to 10 year-old kids.

Half were given a standard dose of Ritalin for over a year and brain scans showed there were no differences between the brains of those taking the drug and those who weren’t treated.

The study also shows long-term ADHD drug use doesn’t increase the risk of future drug abuse.
