Hamilton driver suffering from medical episode hits hydro pole

A 76-year-old man from Hamilton is in critical condition after he suffered a medical episode while driving and crashed into a hydro pole.

The incident happened on Tuesday at approximately 9 a.m. on Upper Gage Ave. at Pemberton Ave.

The 76-year-old man was driving a 2010 Dodge when a medical episode caused him to cross into the opposing lanes of traffic and hit a wooden hydro pole, snapping it at the base.

The hydro pole fell, damaging a parked 2012 Audi before it hit a moving blue SUV on Upper Gage Ave. The driver of the blue SUV, a 62-year-old woman from Hamilton, was not injured.

The 76-year-old driver was taken to hospital where he remains in stable but critical condition.

Police ask anyone with additional information about this crash to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4755.
