The town of Halton Hills is about to be just under $1.5 million richer thanks to federal grant funding provided to support five municipal projects.
The town applied for and received $1,464,430 from the Government of Canada.
MP Lloyd Longfield announced the funding at the Acton Arena in the company of Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor.
Lawlor says this investment in Halton Hills allows the town to continue their climate change program and maintain commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
“The town, along with other municipalities, has declared a climate emergency and I am very proud that we are taking real action by retrofitting facilities to achieve energy targets and carbon reduction,” Lawlor said.

The five projects the money will go towards include the design, creation, and installation of visitor signs, as well as the replacement of the dehumidification units and implementation of heat recovery technology at the Mold-Masters SportsPlex and Acton Arena and Community Centre.
Halton Hills has a population of approximately 60,000 people and the updates to the sports complex and community centre are aimed at reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
