Woman arrested in Grimsby after spike belt used on stolen vehicle

Ontario police have charged a woman who had allegedly stolen a car after a spike belt was used to stop her Sunday afternoon in the Town of Grimsby.
An officer from the Niagara detachment of Burlington OPP says they located a stolen white Subaru Impreza in the area of Windward Avenue using licence plate recognition technology.
They say the vehicle failed to stop for police in the parking lot, nearly hitting the officer.
The car was found later that day near the intersection of Hunter and Winston Roads, where officers had deployed a spike belt.
The stolen car had then fled the intersection and struck another vehicle.
Members of Niagara police say they attended the area and found the stolen vehicle and the woman nearby on Princess Blvd.
The woman was then arrested.
Police have charged 39-year-old Linsay Oak from Hamilton with offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and possessing a schedule I substance.
Oak was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at a St. Catharines courthouse on Mar. 10, 2025.
