While the calendar says the season changed and that the days are about to get longer again and there’s a bit of a chill in the air, it certainly doesn’t feel like winter.

In fact this month has been anything but winter like and if you’ve been enjoying it you’re in luck as forecasters are predicting the much milder winter.

If temperatures over the last couple weeks are any indication of what we can expect, this December could be a record breaker.

Two years ago at this time much of southern Ontario was coated by one of the worst ice storms in years.

Two years worth of freezing rain fell in just 48 hours, downing hydro lines and trees and leaving hundreds of thousands without power.

it was a much different story this year.

So far, this month’s average is about 7 degrees, compared to the normal average of -3 degrees.

More than 30 centimetres of snow was dumped on Hamilton, this time last year. Less than two centimetres of snow has hit the ground so far this year.

A white Christmas is most likely out of the question.

With a warm and wet weather forecast some ski hills have remained closed but officials at Glen Eden are not too concerned.

In 2006 their ski hills didn’t open until the second week of January.

While there are some flurries expected in the forecast, don’t expect the snow to hang around.
