Hamilton police have charged a 30-year-old woman in relation to a sexual assault investigation, while allegedly fraudulently working as an educational assistant at a local school board.

Officers say Karly Tripp from Waterdown had allegedly met the victim, a student who required supports, while fraudulently working within the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.

The victim’s family was led to believe in September 2025 that Tripp was a qualified respite worker, and she began meeting with the victim outside of her role with the school.

Investigators say it was during these interactions that the offences took place.

Tripp has been charged with offences including sexual assault, assault, voyeurism and uttering a threat to cause death in relation to the investigation.

Tripp is currently incarcerated on other charges.

Hamilton police confirmed with CHCH News that she is the same person who was arrested as part of an investigation linked to the horse industry in Milton in May.

She was also charged by Halton police in April with offences related to the fraudulent taking of cattle and the injuring or endangering of other animals.

Offices say they believe Tripp may have targeted other vulnerable persons through her employment and that there may be more victims.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hamilton Police Det. Const. Sarah Postuma at 905-540-6252, or to the Sex Crimes Unit non-emergency line at 905-540-5553.
