Hamilton police arrested a woman Monday night after she allegedly attacked a 71-year-old man at Juravinski Hospital.

Officers say at around 9:30 p.m., a 23-year-old woman with no fixed address had allegedly attacked the man in the hospital’s waiting room.

They say the two people did not know each other.

The man suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound and received treatment at the hospital.

The woman had fled the area on foot and threatened a security guard on the way out of the hospital.

Police were able to arrest her and charged her with two counts of assault with a weapon.

Detectives have not said what the weapon used was or the reason for the attack at this time.
