Unifor extends Ford negotiations for 24 hours after getting ‘substantive offer’
Unifor is extending the strike deadline for an additional 24 hours after they received a “substantive offer” from Ford Motor Co. just minutes before the deadline Monday night.
Negotiations are still ongoing in Toronto where they are asking for better pensions, higher wages and job security.
However, the union says its members should continue to maintain strike readiness.
Unifor is negotiating with Ford in hopes of reaching a pattern agreement that serves as the basis for contracts at General Motors and Stellantis.

Ford says it will continue to work collaboratively with the union to create a blueprint for the automotive industry that supports a vibrant and sustainable future in Canada.
The last time a strike took place at Ford was in 1990.
Unifor President Lana Payne says that if they were to strike, it would be a “full strike.”
This would stop the production of the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus at a plant in Oakville.
