Two people dead, five others injured after multi-vehicle crash in Brant County

Two people are dead and five others are in hospital following a serious three-vehicle crash in Brant County Friday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police were called around 12:30 p.m. to Colborne Street East between McBay and Langford Church roads, where a minivan, pickup truck and SUV collided.

In a social media post, OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk says the 38-year-old driver and 16-year-old passenger of the minivan suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sanchuk says the driver and three occupants of the SUV, and the driver of the pickup truck were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“I’d just like to send out my sincerest and deepest condolences to all family members and friends affected by this tragedy,” Sanchuk says in a video posted on X.

“I’d also like to thank the Good Samaritans who stopped to try and provide assistance.”

There’s no word yet on the cause of the collision.

OPP closed Colborne Street East between McBay and Langford Church roads for six to eight hours following the collision while investigators were on scene. The road reopened around 10:10 p.m. Friday night.

Members of the public who were in the area at the time of the crash are asked to review their dash camera video.
