Halton police made two arrests and laid several charges after an auto theft investigation in Oakville.
On Monday, officers responded to a home following the overnight theft of a Toyota Sequoia SUV.
Investigators say suspects smashed a window to gain entry to the vehicle and then used a reprogramming device to start and steal the SUV.
They tracked the suspects to a location in East York and conducted surveillance in the area, where officers identified additional stolen vehicles in the possession of the suspects.
On Wednesday, 23-year-old Thyson Joseph of Quebec was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of failure to comply with undertaking.
At the time of his arrest, Joseph was bound by two separate release orders related to previous auto theft charges. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

Maika Lumumba, also 23 and of Quebec, was arrested and charged on the same day as Joseph.
Lumumba has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Officers also executed a search warrant at a residence in East York where they recovered an Acura Sedan stolen from Montreal, an Acura SUV stolen from Peel Region and other stolen items.
