Two arrested, over $36,000 in drugs seized after traffic stop in Brantford

Brantford police say two men have been arrested in connection with possessing around $36,000 in drugs.
Police say officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area of Charing Cross Street and West Street on Feb. 27.
The driver of the vehicle was found to be operating with a suspended license. He was then arrested for Drive While Under Suspension.
Officers say while speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, they observed a hand-held Conducted Energy Weapon in view, beside the rear passenger seat, which is a prohibited weapon. Police also found a baseball bat beside the passenger.
The rear passenger was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon.
After searching the vehicle, police then found around $36,000 in drugs. This included:
- Approximately 139.3 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $20,895
- Approximately 41.5 grams of suspected Cocaine, with an estimated street value of $4,980
- Approximately 12 grams of suspected Fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $3,240
- Approximately 4.5 grams of suspected Crack-Cocaine, with an estimated street value of $540
- A quantity of Dilaudid (suspected), with an estimated street value of $6,150
- A quantity of Hydromorphone (suspected), with an estimated street value of $540

Police say 40-year-old Matthew Wells of Brantford and 43-year-old Matthew Taylor of Brantford have been charged with multiple offences.
