Two arrested, Molotov cocktail seized in Hamilton stolen vehicle probe

Hamilton police have arrested two men and seized a Molotov cocktail, a hand-thrown weapon, after an overnight investigation into a stolen vehicle.

On Thursday at around 11:55 p.m., officers were proactively patrolling the area of Upper Horning Road when a stolen black Honda Civic vehicle was seen.

Investigators say a traffic stop was attempted but the vehicle tried to flee, striking a marked police cruiser in the process.

The two occupants exited the vehicle and ran before officers caught them and took them into custody.

During a vehicle search, police located a Molotov cocktail. The device was seized and the vehicle was towed for further examination.

Detectives say a 17-year-old man from York and a 22-year-old man from Brampton are facing four charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has invoked their mandate as one of the accused was injured during the arrest.
