One dead, another seriously injured in Haldimand County crash

A single-vehicle crash in Haldimand County has left one person dead on scene and another in hospital with serious injuries.

On Thursday at around 7 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), fire and paramedics responded to a collision on Haldimand Road 53 between Concession 2 and Concession 3 north of Selkirk.

OPP says it has been determined that a motor vehicle left the roadway, entered the ditch and rolled over.

Investigators say one person in the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. A second person was transported to a local area hospital and then airlifted by Ornge to a Hamilton hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Roads were closed in the area but have since reopened around 3:42 a.m. on Friday.
