T-B Mcquesten park held a tree planting festival to celebrate Earth Day. Volunteers cleaned up the park and planted trees in hopes of making another home for animals in the Hamilton area. Today 500 trees were planted at Mcquesten, one of Hamilton’s largest parks.

“the city is interested in building better parks in the area and we’ve actually never been in the mountain before and this is our first plant on the hamilton mountain,” says volunteer Judi Pattison. “We are normally at cootes paradise or churchill park down in the city so we are trying to reach out into other areas of the city and hope to move further into stoney creek on some of our plants and maybe come up here and do some more planting.”

The festival included a kids zone, making the event a fun day for the whole family. Hot dogs were also for sale to raise money for the United Way.
