Toronto pair charged in 2020 shooting death of Stoney Creek man

Hamilton police have arrested and charged two Toronto men with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Giorgio Barresi more than three years ago.
The 42-year-old father of three was shot and killed in the driveway of his Stoney Creek home on Portofino Place on March 2, 2020 while his wife and children were inside.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Inspector Jim Callendar says 41-year-old Jamal Chemin and 27-year-old Sorossa Moude were charged last Friday in relation to the financially-motivated murder.

Police have said they believe the murder was planned as those responsible were aware of Barresi’s routine and were parked in a four-door sedan at the end of his street waiting for him to return.
Callendar would not specify which suspect was the shooter.
While the accused had no connection with Barresi, investigators say they had ties to Hamilton.
Police say initial information showed historical ties between Barresi and the Musitano traditional organized crime group. This investigation involved over 50 judicial authorizations and was part of Project Skyfall through 2020-21.
