Toronto commuters coping with Honda Indy closures

It’s going to be a slow drive for motorists hoping to get into Toronto’s downtown for the next couple of days.

Last night, a stretch of Lake Shore Blvd between Strachan Ave and British Columbia Rd was closed off. The annual race runs on Saturday and Sunday, but crews have been setting up the course since Wednesday night.

Toronto Police say the closures will have a major impact on traffic — especially this morning as people head to work. Unfortunately, it will also be slow going on the Gardiner Expressway as well as other alternate routes.

Earlier this year the city closed off one lane of the Gardiner for construction and maintenance work.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the Molson Indy; police are estimating a 20-30 per cent increase in traffic.
