Three pedestrians killed in three days

It’s been a deadly week on the roads.

For the third day in a row, a pedestrian has been hit and killed by a vehicle.

Skateboarder latest victim

In the latest incident, a 26 year old man riding a skateboard was killed by a garbage truck in downtown Toronto.

He was hit when the truck was turning on to King Street from Spadina Avenue. Police are asking anyone who saw the crash to give them a call.

Woman succumbs
A woman hit by a van on Hamilton Mountain has died from her injuries. That crash happened on Fennell Avenue East near Upper Ottawa, around seven yesterday morning. Police found the 81-year old pedestrian unconscious on the road. Her name isn’t being released — and there’s no word if charges will be laid.

Man run down in Rockton
Early Wednesday morning, a man died after being hit by a car on Highway 8 just north of Rockton. The 55-year old man, found unconscious and bleeding, was pronounced dead at Hamilton General Hospital. His name hasn’t been released.

Call for vigilance:
Police say more pedestrians are hit by cars in fall because darker clothing and less daylight make them harder to see. They want drivers to be paying more attention, and turning on their headlights earlier. At the same time, pedestrians are being warned to look both ways before crossing roadways.
