Many describing it as the most terrifying minutes of their lives.

A false alarm about a missile threatening the state of Hawaii turned out to be a mistake which was made when “an employee pushed the wrong button.”

Later on a new message was received that read “There is no missile threat or danger to the state of Hawaii. Repeat. False alarm.”

US Senator Brian Shatz said quote: “What happened today is totally inexcusable. The whole state was terrified. There needs to be tough and quick accountability and a fixed process.”

It took about 38 minutes for that second push notification to arrive on smart-phones declaring there was no real danger.
