Thousands of Tesla vehicles in Canada and the United States are being recalled due to a software issue.

The issue could prevent the rearview camera image from displaying properly.

According to the recall notice, the problem could delay the camera image from appearing when the transmission is shifted into reverse shortly after the vehicle is started.

Vehicles included in the recall include:

  • Tesla Model Y vehicles produced between 2020 and 2023
  • Tesla Model 3 vehicles produced between 2021 and 2023
  • Tesla Model S vehicles produced between 2021 and 2023
  • Tesla Model X vehicles produced between 2022 and 2023

Tesla says owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by email.

The vehicle manufacturer has also released an “over-the-air” software update to resolve the issue, adding no further action is required by impacted Tesla owners if your vehicle has software release 2026.8.6.1 or a later release.
