Suspect photo shared, vehicle recovered in Jackson Square fatal shooting
Hamilton police have released a blurry suspect photo and recovered the vehicle involved in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man near Jackson Square earlier this month.
The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. on March 6 in the area of King Street West and MacNab Street South, just outside the Ellen Fairclough Building.
Sgt. Daryl Reid, a homicide detective with Hamilton police, has said the victim was walking on a sidewalk when a male suspect got out of a vehicle and shot at the victim several times before fleeing westbound on King Street West.

Emergency crews arrived to find a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed him to hospital, where he later died.
Police identified the victim of the targeted shooting as Alexander Circiumaru of Hamilton.
In an update Monday, investigators say they recovered the black Honda Civic involved in the shooting in Hamilton’s east end.

“Detectives continue to investigate the movements of this vehicle around the city both before and after the shooting,” police wrote in a media release.
After reviewing surveillance footage in the area, investigators were able to capture a photo of the suspect. The image shows the male shooter wearing black clothing with a hood covering his head, a face mask and gloves.
Police and the family of Circiumaru are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

“We ask and beg anyone who knows anything, please come forward,” reads a statement from the victim’s family.
“This is our son. His life was just beginning. Try, just try putting yourself in our shoes. How can anyone take Alexander’s life and the evil, hated way he was gunned down.”
His family remembers him as a loving, kind and caring little brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and grandson.
