It’s been a long road for an ostrich farm in BC, nearly 300 days fighting to save 400 birds.
Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Canada has ended that battle, dismissing an appeal from the universal ostrich farm, who sought to have their birds re-tested for avian flu.
This fight has garnered international attention and goes back to December of 2024 when a strain of avian flu was detected at the farm.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency then ordered a cull of the entire flock, triggering a lengthy legal battle that has sparked fierce political and social debate.
