Students prep for Ancaster food drive

Students across Ancaster are picking up food and sorting through donations today, ahead of the community’s annual food drive.

Volunteers are going door-to-door tomorrow to collect food donations from nine in the morning until two in the afternoon, and will package the goods back at Parish Hall.

Principal Greg Tabone is quite proud of the school’s student council for taking the lead. “(They) went to the classrooms, made up flyers and sent them out to all the classrooms and sent them to all the families in the community to get involved in this food drive.”

All donations will go directly to Hamilton’s major food agencies. Last year, the Ancaster food drive collected 81,000 pounds of food and $7,000. The project has been running for 20 years.
