Statistics Canada says GDP rose 0.8 per cent in October and gain in November

Statistics Canada says the real gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.8 per cent in October.
This was followed by a 0.2 per cent growth in September, it says broad-based increases across sectors contributed to the fifth consecutive monthly expansion.
Statistics Canada says the manufacturing sector rebounded 1.8 per cent, more than offsetting a 1.5 per cent contraction in September.
It says total economic activity was 0.4 per cent below pre-pandemic levels recorded in February 2020.
Preliminary data for November suggests a rise in GDP of 0.3 per cent for the month.
Statistics Canada says leading the growth were accommodation and food services, wholesale trade, construction and the arts and entertainment sectors, while mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction offset some of the gains.
Statistics Canada says it will finalize November’s figure in early February.
