St. Catharines shooting leaves man with ‘critical injuries’, say police

Niagara police are investigating a shooting in St. Catharines that left one man with critical injuries.

It happened around 10:20 p.m. Friday night at a plaza near Vine Street and Old Pine Trail, investigators say.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 26-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Emergency responders described his injuries as “critical but non-life-threatening.”

So far, the investigation has revealed that two male suspects are involved. Both were reported to be wearing masks.

Detectives believe this was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public at this time.

There was a heavy police presence in the area of Vine Street as officers continued their investigation into the morning. Police have since cleared the scene.
