St. Catharines man arrested after firearms incident on Burgoyne Bridge

A St. Catharines man has been arrested in relation to a firearms incident on Burgoyne Bridge early Tuesday morning.

Police responded to a call about an armed person on Dec. 3 at 1:30 a.m. on the bridge at St. Paul West Street.

A male suspect had been yelling at an adult male and threatened him with a gun.

Detectives located the suspect nearby and a high-risk takedown took place during which police recovered a fully loaded 32-calibre revolver.

George A. Ziegler, 28, was arrested and charged on five counts, including uttering threats and possession of a firearm without holding a licence.

Ziegler was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
