4 men on student visas arrested after cars broken into, items stolen in Oakville
Halton police have arrested four men who are in the country on student visas after numerous cars in Oakville were broken into and items inside were stolen.
On the morning of Nov. 24 officers were called to the area of Rosehill Drive and Shady Glen Road on reports of car windows being smashed and cars broken into overnight.
A white Honda Civic sedan was seen in the area at the time of the thefts.
Over twenty vehicles were damaged and multiple personal items inside — including cash and debit and credit cards — were taken.
Some of the debit and credit cards were used later for purchases at commercial locations in the GTA.
The following week on Dec. 1 around 1:30 a.m. police responded to a report of a vehicle being broken into on Meadow Marsh Crescent, also in Oakville.
A white Honda Civic sedan was seen leaving the area and the police tracked it down.
As a result of the ensuing investigation police arrested and charged four young men who reside in Brampton and are in Canada on student visas.
Gurparkar Singh, 19, Akshdeep Singh and Kanavpreet Singh, both age 20, and Dilpreet Singh, 21, were charged with mischief under $5,000.
Further investigation found that three of the men were connected to the Nov. 24 car break-and-enters and thefts.
Gurparkar Singh, Akshdeep Singh and Kanavpreet Singh have each been charged with multiple counts of mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and fraud under $5,000, plus unauthorized use of a credit card.
