Peel Police say they are trying to determine if there is a link between the killing of a Mississauga spa owner earlier this year, and a stabbing she survived late last year.

Police say Teresa Hsin was stabbed in november 2014. Her son, Eric Lu, 25, who was visiting at the time, called 9-1-1. He was also the one to report her missing in April, a week before her body was found inside a black SUV in Mississauga.

Lu was charged yesterday with first degree murder in connection with his mother’s death. Justine Ordonio, 25, and Mark Dookhram, 21, both of Toronto, are also charged with first degree murder.

At a news conference this morning, Insp George Koekkoek of Peel Police was asked whether they suspected the family connection early on in their investigation. “There was a lot of information out there at the time that we were dealing with and we started following the evidence.”

“It became evident early on what we were looking at and we continued to work through it until we got to where we are today, and that is with the arrest of the three individuals we believe are responsible.”

Police say they do not believe anyone else is involved in the murder.
