A Simcoe man accused of killing his 71-year-old mother and a 49-year-old man is facing additional – and more serious – charges.

Ontario Provincial Police have announced that Justin Morgan has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder related to the deaths of Barbara Morgan and Robert Sykes.

On Oct. 5, Norfolk OPP discovered the body of Barbara at her home on Head Street in Simcoe. A postmortem examination revealed her death was the result of a homicide.

The body of Sykes was found 11 days later on Oct. 16 in a wooded area off Highway 6, just west of Caledonia. It was determined his death was also the result of a homicide.

Justin was arrested in connection with his mother’s death, and initially faced only one second-degree murder charge. OPP say he will now be facing two first-degree murder charges in connection with both homicides.

Morgan remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Norfolk OPP say their investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to get in touch by calling 1-800-310-1122.
