Ontario Provincial Police say they’ve charged a 45-year-old Simcoe man with second-degree murder after his mother was found dead in her home last Sunday. Investigators are still searching for a second person who they believe may be an additional victim.

Detectives say the investigation began the morning of Oct. 5, when officers responded to a home on Head Street South and found the body of 71-year-old Barbara Morgan.

A postmortem examination determined that her death was the result of a homicide.

Police say they arrested and charged Barbara’s son, Justin Morgan, with second-degree murder on Friday. However, another person connected to the investigation remains unaccounted for.

Investigators are concerned for the wellbeing of 49-year-old Robert Sykes, who was last seen walking on Head Street South on Oct. 4.

Sykes is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall, and around 120 lbs. He has long dirty blond hair, typically worn in a ponytail, with a long beard or goatee.

OPP says their investigation is still ongoing, but they don’t believe there’s any threat to public safety at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
