The annual Salvation Army Christmas kettle campaign started 125 years ago and this year the campaign began November 14th at most major retail locations across Canada.
Members of the Salvation Army are accepting donations with the kettle campaign at 57 locations across Hamilton and Burlington.
The goal this year is to raise $410,000 in Hamilton and $250,000 in Burlington.
Dan Millar is with the Salvation Army: ”The money goes directly to the Salvation Army”s community family services offices to provide a Christmas hamper and Christmas toy for those less fortunate in the city in the local community. Eighty-six cents of every dollar that goes into the kettle goes directly to the ministry in those community and family service offices at the time.”
The kettle campaign runs until Christmas Eve.
