Report: Inflation in Ontario dipped in December

Inflation in Ontario dropped slightly to 1.7 per cent in December thanks in part to pre-holiday spending.
It’s on par with the national 1.8 per cent inflation rate that trended down following the federal government’s GST/HST temporary tax break.
Statistics Canada’s consumer price index report on Tuesday said restaurant food purchases, and alcohol bought from stores, contributed to the deceleration.
The agency also released figures for major cities such as Toronto where inflation went from 2.2 per cent to 1.8 per cent.
