UPDATE: RCMP now confirms Myles Sanderson is dead. RCMP say Myles went into medical distress shortly after his arrest. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Multiple news agencies including the Associated Press report sources indicate Saskatchewan stabbing rampage suspect Myles Sanderson has died of self-inflicted wounds. No details on the injuries, when the wounds were inflicted or when he died.

Myles Sanderson has an extensive criminal record, with 59 past convictions. He was released by the parole board in February while serving a four-year sentence for assault and robbery.

Myles’ brother Damien Sanderson, who was also a suspect in the attacks was found dead near one of the crime scenes Monday. Police believe that he did not kill himself.

Earlier today, the RCMP released the names of the people killed in the stabbing rampage. They include nine men and women from the James Smith Cree Nation northeast of Saskatoon and one man from the nearby village of Weldon.

James Smith Cree Nation has a population of about 1,800 people, while Weldon only has roughly 200 residents. The victims range in age from 23 years old to 78 years old. Police didn’t reveal the victim’s relationships with those involved.
