Randle Reef test project

Environment Canada and the Hamilton Port Authority have launched a test project to help them determine how to build a proposed containment facility in the Randle Reef area.

The testing involves pile driving, and the information will help them confirm engineering design details.

Canada’s environment minister says the tests are an important step in moving the project forward.

This area of the Hamilton Harbour is heavily polluted with industrial byproducts, and is one of the worst coal-tar-contaminated sites in the country.
