QEW closed for crash

Drivers on the QEW witnessed a horrifying scene Friday afternoon, after a teen drove through a barrier sending the car through the air and onto the QEW, crashing into several other vehicles.

It happened on the eastbound QEW just past Cawthra Road.

The crash forced all lanes heading into Toronto to be shut down and the backlog to use other eastbound routes such as the 401, 402 and Lakeshore Road.

The teen behind the wheel is believed to be around 16 years old.

He was air lifted to St. Mike’s hospital with life threatening injuries.

Four other people were also hurt in the crash that not only caused the eastbound lanes to close, traffic heading west toward Oakville was bumper to bumper and backed up on the 427 all the way to the 401.
